About

Welcome to Spine Creases! I'm Jess, a 21-year-old from Rochester, New York. I recently graduated from the University of Rochester, having double majored in Religion and International Relations, and I'm moving to Columbus, Ohio this summer to start my graduate program. I'm a regular contributor at The Broke and the Bookish, so I hope you stop there!

Like many book bloggers, I'm an avid reader, and have been since the time I could figure out what those squiggly letter things were. My mom read to me every night when I was little, and I became a voracious book consumer. I never liked toys or dolls, but books would get me all the time!

My all-time favorite authors are John Steinbeck and J.K. Rowling, but my favorite books are all over the map. East of Eden and the Harry Potter series of course compete at the very top, but I pick up Steve Kluger's Almost Like Being in Love at least twice a year, and I still recall whole sections of Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain. I'm also a huge fan of Middle Eastern literature, both fiction and non-fiction.

In terms of genres I read on a regular basis, I absolutely love mysteries, books about religion, and food memoirs. You'll be seeing a lot of these three genres on this blog. I also enjoy YA novels on occasion, and will really read just about anything!

As a recent grad (and soon-to-be grad student), I definitely cannot afford to buy books at whim. I'm a frequent patron of libraries, and I also receive a fair amount of ARCs and books from publisher, for which I am incredibly thankful.
